The 27-year-old, Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has become the first man to hit 250 in a one-day international during India’s fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in Kolkata steered India to 404 for 5 as they defeated a broken Sri Lanka by 153 runs (13 November, 2014). During his epic knock the opener hit 33 boundaries and nine sixes and scored runs at a strike-rate of 152.66.

- He is the first batsman in ODIs to hit two double hundreds.

- First and only man to hit 250+ in a one-day international.
- Beat the previous record of 219 made by fellow Indian Virender Sehwag against West Indies in 2011.
- Before Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to reach 200 against South Africa (2010), with Virendra Sehwag (219) beating that record a year later against West Indies.
- Rohit Sharma though missed out on the becoming the highest individual scorer in List-A games, missing the landmark by just four runs. Ali Brown of England holds the record with the score of 268.

Asked if he was tired after his epic knock, a smiling Rohit said, "Not really. I have had a break due to injury and I am not tired at all. I could have continued for another 50 overs."
